Of all the work that goes into turning a dream mansion into a real mansion planning is the most critical work .Building a mansion is relatable to building a website.Clients simply describe the website that they want and the web developer uses his/her expertise to deliver the desired outcome.
In this article, I will share the web design process that I use to build websites efficiently and deliver within the set timelines.
The Discovery Phase
This phase answers the most essential questions like what is the purpose/goal of the website?
As a developer, you need to fully understand what the client needs his/her website to achieve once it is complete.Meeting with a client either virtually or physically is essential to gather all the information needed to understand the scope of the project.
The Planning Phase

Now that the developer clearly understands what the client needs, the next step is for the developer to create a building plan. The goal of the planning phase is to ensure that every element and characteristic is catered for well in advance. The time spent in the planning phase is relative to how simple or complex the project is going to be and it can be anything between a couple of days to a week or two. This is also the phase where a client should provide all the material needed for the actual work to begin in the next phase.
The Building Phase
When the planning phase has been well executed and the materials provided by the client in a timely manner, the next step is to implement the plan by constructing the website to the set requirements. Again, complex projects require more time during the building phase and this can be between one and three weeks for standard projects. This is also the phase where the developer will keep the client updated with drafts for revision purposes as agreed before getting into the final phase.
The Testing and Deployment Phase
Finally, the website is ready for launching but a testing session or two are necessary to polish out any rough edges in terms of design, functionality, and security. Projects that drag on for months or stagnate completely usually do so as a result of poor planning or poor cooperation by either of the parties involved, hence the need to adhere to the web design process for satisfactory results.
